The Pioneer Museums Annual Festival of Trees
Pioneer Museum Seeks Donations for the "Festival of Trees"
This year marks the 10th anniversary of this event and to mark the occasion, the Museum is asking the community for donations of bird-themed ornaments that will be placed on a community tree entitled “Birds of a Feather.” Carla Albright of the Festival committee explained, “This will give an opportunity for those who can’t decorate an entire tree to participate in the fun.”
“We have chosen to dedicate this year’s proceeds toward a bird watching station at Kilchis Point Reserve,” said museum director Gary Albright. “There are amazing bird populations along Tillamook Bay, both migratory and permanent, and we want to protect those species while also providing a safe place for our visitors to observe them.”
Those wishing to drop off donations of bird ornaments, tiny bird houses, and/or nests can do so during regular museum hours, 10 AM to 4 PM Tuesday through Sunday from now until Thanksgiving. The donations will be placed on the tree by volunteers and the decorated tree will remain in the Museum for the holiday season.

10th annual Festival of Tree will take place Friday, Dec. 13,
Plans are already underway for the 10th annual Festival of Trees at the Pioneer Museum. Festival decorators will adorn their trees on December 6 and the
Festival will open on December 7, with the Gala Event being held from 5:30 to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 13th, 2013.Decorator Information Forms will be mailed to the Festival’s past decorators on Nov. 1st and we ask to have them back starting at 10:00 AM on November 15. New decorators who have called Ruby and asked to be put on the list will also be mailed a form. The selection of trees will again be in accordance with when the forms were turned in and directions for submission will be included in the Decorator Information Forms. New decorators who have not been put on the mailing list can pick up a form starting November 1 at 10:00 AM, with the same deadline as the others. We will only have 11 trees to assign this year as the Community Tree will take up the twelfth spot.
||Winning bidders of full-sized trees will see them delivered on Monday, December 16th. The Museum will also be opened until 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 11 for viewing.
Tickets for the Gala will be $20 in advance and $25 at the door and will include a wide selection of hors ‘d’oeuvres and two glasses of wine, with
additional wine being available for purchase. This year’s wine is being donated by Ed Armstrong (Shafer Vineyards) and Leo Graham (Montinore Estate
Vineyard). Ticket sales begin November 19, 2013. A limited number of tickets will be available. Proceeds from this year’s Festival will be put toward
construction of a bird watching platform at TCPM’s Kilchis Point Reserve in Bay City.
In celebration of the 10th anniversary - and because of the bird watching platform - the Festival Committee is asking residents and friends of Tillamook
County to donate a bird-themed ornament to the Festival. These ornaments will be displayed on a Community Tree entitled “Birds of a Feather.”
Those interested in decorating a tree, wreath, tabletop tree, centerpiece, or in donating an ornament for the Community Tree can contact Carla, Ruby or
Caitlin at the Museum (503-842-4553) during regular Museum hours. TCPM thanks the volunteer members of our Festival Committee – Diane Colcord, Nancy
Contolini, Cindy Gardner, Peggy Landau, Kathie Lou Reames, and Janet Riedel – for all their help to make this year’s Festival even more fun and exciting!
