Our County's History...

The history of Tillamook County serves as a reminder of the diverse people who have called it home. From the Tillamook Indians to Captain Gray’s 1788 voyage into Tillamook Bay, this stretch of the north Oregon coast is a living memorial to those who came before. Tillamook County’s rich history is preserved for all to enjoy at the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum.

Beginning with a collection of 400 items, TCPM has now grown to include 55,000 items plus an additional 20,000 photographs. The current collection ranges from prehistoric specimens to modern day. On your next visit to Tillamook County, stop by and enjoy our Historic Past at the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum.

For more information, phone 503-842-4553 or email our staff (see About Us).

Accessibility

Our museum is currently housed on three floors, with the basement level and second floor only accessible by stairs. Our main level is accessible via stairs from the Second Street entrance, and ramp and chair lift from the First Street (Hwy 6) entrance. The main floor has five exhibit areas, as well as a 20 minute, close captioned video about the history of the museum and summaries of all of our exhibits. Please call us if you have any additional questions or if there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable!

We are a proud Charter Member of the Tillamook Coast History Alliance!
